The value of microcalcification in mammography findings in diagnosis breast cancer

Abstract:Objective To investgate the diagnostic significance ofmicrocalcifications in breast cancer. Methods 38 female individuals of breast cancerwithmicrocalcifications confirmed by pathology and biopsy from April 2010 to March 2016 were included in this study retrospectively.The characteristics of microcalifications,relation with mass and histopathology in breast cancer were analyzed and compared.Rusults In mammography,mostmicrocalcifications were usually sand-shaped,pinpoind-shaped,pole-shaped,fork-shaped,clusteringly-shapde.Themiddle and low densemicrocacifications with halo sign were seen in most breast cancer.31 cases had 5 minutes calcifications per square centimeter.IDC with microcalfications were often seen in breast cancer.These microcalcitionsmost were sand-shaped or pinpoint-shaped.4 caseswere caicinomas in stitu with puremicrocalcifications.Pure calcifications 15 cases,calcification in mass 14 cases,calcification near mass 9 cases.Conclusion In mammography,X-ray indication of microcalcification is important finding in diagnosis of breast cancer especially caicinomas in situ and IDC onmcrography.
