Objective To investigate the effect of modified electroconvulsive therapy (MECT) combined with repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) on cognitive function in women patients with severe depression. Methods From January 2018 to February 2020,94 female patients with severe depression who were admitted to Anshan Mental Health Center were selected as the research subjects, and they were divided into two groups according to the random number table method, with 47 cases in each group. The experimental group underwent MECT combined with rTMS,the control group was treated with single MECT.The clinical efficacy, depression status and cognitive function of the two groups were compared. Results The total effective rate of treatment in the experimental group was 93.62%,which was higher than 74.47% in the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05).After treatment, the Hamilton depression rating scale (HAMD) score of the experimental group was (14.29±3.47) points, which was lower than that of the control group for (17.55±3.98) points, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).After treatment, the total number of responses, the number of correct responses and the number of completed classifications of patients in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group, and the number of wrong responses and persistent errors were lower than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion MECT combined with rTMS can enhance the curative effect, improve the depressive state, cognitive function and promote the recovery of female patients with severe depression.
