Abstract:Objective To study and observe the effect of Gibbs reflection cycle mode on improving disease uncertainty and treatment compliance in the elderly undergoing gastrointestinal surgery. Methods A total of 118 elderly patients underwent gastrointestinal surgery in Beipiao Central Hospital were enrolled from June 2018 to July 2020. They were divided into the observation group and the control group according to random number table method, 59 cases in each group. The control group was given routine nursing, while the observation group was given Gibbs reflection cycle mode for nursing intervention. The total incidence of complications during intervention, postoperative recovery, disease uncertainty, treatment compliance and quality of life were compared between the two groups. Results The total incidence of complications during intervention in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The recovery time of postoperative bowel sound, recovery time of exhaust and defecation, leaving bed time and hospitalization time in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The score of disease uncertainty in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, and the scores of treatment compliance and quality of life in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Gibbs reflection cycle mode can improve disease uncertainty, treatment compliance and quality of life in elderly patients undergoing gastrointestinal surgery, and patients have fewer postoperative complications and can recover from hospital more quickly.
