Abstract:Infectious mononucleosis (IM) is an infectious disease of acute or subacute lymphocyte benign proliferation, caused by primary Epstein-Barr virus infection. Fever, angina and cervical lymph node enlargement are the main clinical manifestations, which can be combined with hepatomegaly and splenomegaly, and the number of abnormal lymphocytes in peripheral blood increases. Hepatic impairment is more common, accounting for about 2/3 of the number of children, and severe cases may cause liver failure or progress to Epstein-Barr virus related hemophagocytic syndrome. Its pathogenesis is complex, but immune regulation plays an important role in its pathogenesis. The neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) can reflect the inflammation, immunity and nutritional status of patients. According to relevant literature reports in recent years, red blood cell distribution width (RDW) is also a new inflammatory marker in blood routine, which is closely related to the judgment or prognosis of various liver diseases. NLR and RDW are effective indicators for evaluating various liver diseases in adult patients, but their practicability in liver damage of pediatric IM patients is still unclear. This paper will analyze and summarize the relevant studies on the levels of NLR and RDW in peripheral blood and the liver damage in children with IM, so as to provide important reference value for early prevention, early detection, improvement of long-term prognosis, treatment of diseases and evaluation of prognosis.
