Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical value of reticulocyte hemoglobin equivalent (Ret-He) in anemia of chronic disease (ACD) with iron deficiency anemia (IDA).Methods Clinical data of 187 patients with ACD who were admitted to Shantou Central Hospital from September 2017 to September 2019 were retrospectively analyzed.They were divided into iron deficiency group (106 patients) and non-iron deficiency group (81 patients) according to whether they had IDA.The correlation of Ret-He with hemoglobin,low fluorescent reticulocyte (LFR),medium fluorescent reticulocyte (MFR),high fluorescent reticulocyte (HFR),mean corpuscular volume (MCV),mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH),mean corpuscular hemoglobincon centration (MCHC) and diagnostic value of Ret-He in ACD with IDA were analyzed.Results Ret-He was positively correlated with hemoglobin,MCV,MCH and MCHC (P<0.05).The levels of hemoglobin,RET-HE,MCV,MCH and MCHC in the iron deficiency group were lower than those in the non-iron deficiency group,and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Logistic regression showed that Ret-He (β=0.27,OR=1.31,95%CI:1.08-1.59) was independently associated with ACD combined with IDA (P<0.05).The area under curve (AUC)of ACD with IDA predicted by Ret-He was 0.96 (95%CI:0.94-0.98).Conclusion Ret-He can be used as a predictor of ACD with IDA.
