Abstract:Objective To investigate the feasibility and value of modified mini-clinical evaluation exercise (Mini-CEX)in clinical teaching of orthopedic interns. Methods From August 2018 to July 2019,84 undergraduates of five-year clinical medicine practiced in the Department of Orthopedics,Putuo Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine were selected. According to the random number table method, they were divided into control group and observation group, with 42 cases in each group. In the control group, the interns received the traditional teaching method, and the interns in observation group received the modified Mini-CEX teaching method. The results of clinical comprehensive ability assessment and teaching satisfaction rate between the two groups were compared. Results Before the internship, there were no significant differences between the two groups in the assessment results of clinical comprehensive ability (P>0.05). After the internship, the assessment results of clinical comprehensive ability of the two groups were higher than those before the internship, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Moreover,after the internship, students in the observation group scored higher in the assessment of clinical comprehensive ability than the control group, with statistically significant difference (P<0.05). The total rate of teaching satisfaction in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion The application of modified Mini-CEX teaching method can effectively enhance the clinical comprehensive ability of orthopedic interns and their satisfaction with clinical teaching, and more suitable for clinical practice teaching in surgical departments.
