Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of Group B Streptococcus(GBS)infection on vaginal cleanliness and adverse pregnancy outcome in late pregnant women.Methods A total of 1240 pregnant women who were pregnant for more than 35 weeks in the obstetric examination of Tanbei Hospital in Zhongshan City,Guangdong Province from January 2016 to January 2018 were selected as subjects.All pregnant women were tested for vaginal cleanliness and vaginal secretions GBS,after which all pregnant women gave birth in our hospital.According to the results of pre-pregnancy vaginal secretion GBS culture,the pregnant women were divided into positive group(n=100)and negative group(n=1140).The maternal vaginal cleanliness and adverse pregnancy outcomes were compared between the two groups.The maternal vaginal cleanliness and pregnancy outcomes were compared between the two groups.Results The vaginal cleanliness abnormal rate of the positive group was 62.00%(62/100),which was higher than that of the negative group(34.91%[398/1140]),the difference was statistically significant(χ2=28.908,P<0.01).The incidence rates of premature rupture of membranes,premature delivery,puerperal infection,intrauterine distress and neonatal infection in the positive group were higher than those in the negative group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion GBS infection can lead to the decline of vaginal cleanliness in late maternal women,and may even induce adverse pregnancy outcomes.Therefore,GBS should be strengthened in the third trimester of pregnancy.
