Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical effectof small incision extracapsular resection in the treatment of age-related cataract. Methods A total of 240 patients with age-related cataract treated in our hospital from November 2016 to December 2017 were selected as the subjects. They were divided into study group and control group by computer randomization, with 120 cases in each group.Patients in the study group underwent small incision extracapsular enucleation, and in the control group, they were operated with phacoemulsification. The recovery of vision, the total incidence of complications, astigmatism, corneal cell density and the ratio of hexagonal cells were compared between the two groups. Results The vision recovery rate of patients in the study group was lower than that in the control group 72 hours after operation, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There were no significant difference in the vision recovery rates of 30 and 90 days after operation between the two groups(P>0.05).Therewas no significant difference in the total incidence of postoperative complications between the two group(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in preoperative astigmatism between the two groups(P>0.05).The astigmatism 72 hours after operation in the study group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in astigmatism at 30 days and 6months after operation between the two groups(P>0.05).The astigmatism of 72 hours and 30 days after operation in the two groupswas higher than that before operation, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The astigmatism of 6months after operation in the two groupswas not statistically significant(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in corneal cell density or hexagonal cell ratio between the two groups before operation(P>0.05).The corneal cell density and hexagonal cell ratio of the two groups after operation were lower than those before operation, and the corneal cell density and hexagonal cell ratio of the study group after operation were lower than those of the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Small incision extracapsular resection is effective for age-related cataract patients, which has certain clinical application value.
