Abstract:Objective To compare the effect of computed tomography (CT)and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)in the diagnosis of occult fracture of the knee.Methods From March 2013 to November 2017,68 patients with clinically suspected occult fracture of the knees were enrolled in the Department of Radiology of Huizhou Zhongda Huiya Hospital or the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University.All patients underwent CT and MRI within 1 week.The results based on surgical diagnosis and clinical follow-up were used as the diagnostic criteria to compare the sensitivity,specificity and accuracy of CT and MRI in the diagnosis of occult fractures of the knee.Results There were 61 subjects in total definitely diagnosed as occult fracture of the knee,and the rest 7 ones suffered from clinical pain due to other reasons.There was no statistical difference in the sensitivity of CT and MRI diagnosis(P>0.05).The specificity of MRI diagnosis was higher than that of CT diagnosis with a significant difference (P<0.05).The accuracy of MRI diagnosis was also higher compared with that of CT with statistical significance(P<0.05).Conclusion MRI is superior to CT in the diagnosis of patients with the occult fracture of the knee.
