Abstract：The pharmaceutical department has always been an important part of the medical institution.The pharmacy department,which is one of the departments of medical technology,also undertakes certain management functions.This paper discusses the positioning of pharmaceutical department in medical institutions based on organizational theory,and analyzes from the perspective of organization design.Then some suggestions are proposed for the pharmaceutical department to better perform its functions in medical institutions with the line and staff organization structure.Pharmacy department should be based on the position of technical department,its core functions should be highlighted,and its due role should be brought into full play;at the same time,specialized functional departments should be sut up to conduct administrative affairs such as drug administration of medical institutions.
