Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical effect of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) on toxicity reducing and efficacy enhancing of infusion chemotherapy after bladder cancer surgery.Methods From March 2013 to March 2015,60 early-stage superficial bladder cancer patients undergone transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) were admitted into our hospital and divided into experimental group and control group by the random number table.In the control group,only chemotherapy drug from bladder infusion was used,while in the experimental group,Chinese decoction based on syndrome differentiation and treatment was added.The comprehensive scoring of symptoms,occurrence of side effect,and postoperative recurrence rate before and after treatment between two groups were compared.Results The comprehensive scoring of symptoms after therapy in both groups was much less than that before treatment respectively(P<0.05).The comprehensive scoring of symptoms after therapy in the experimental group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05).There were no statistical differences in side effects including fever,gastrointestinal side effect,bone marrow suppression,hepatic and renal functions damaging,rash,hair loss,or mild electrocardiogram change (P>0.05).The duration of above mentioned side effects in the experimental group was greatly shorter in comparison with that in the control group (P<0.05).In the control group,recurrence rate one or three years after surgery was 36.67%(11/30) and 46.67% (14/30) respectively,while in the experimental group,it was 13.33%(4/30) and 26.67%(8/30) respectively,which displayed statistical differences (P<0.05).Conclusion TCM's effect of toxicity reducing and efficacy enhancing on infusion chemotherapy after bladder cancer surgery is remarkable in clinic with short duration of toxic and side effects.
