Abstract：Objective To explore clinical efficacy of topiramate combined with sodium valproate in infantile epilepsy. Methods 99 children with epilepsy treated in our hospital from May 2014 to May 2015 were selected and were randomly divided into control group （n=44）and observation group （n=45），the control group were treated with sodium valproate，the observation group treated with topiramate combined with sodium valproate.The epilepsy treatment effect，the change of metabolic index and the incidence of adverse reaction were compared between two groups.Results The total effective rate of the observation group was 86.7%，significantly higher than 68.2%of the control group（P＜0.05）.The BMI，leptin/Adiponectin ratio and insulin resistance index had no significant difference between two groups before treatment （P＞0.05）.After treatment，BMI and insulin resistance index in observation group was significantly lower in that of the observation group，Leptin/Adiponectin ratio higher than that of control group（P＜0.05）.There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups（P＞0.05）.Conclusion Topiramate combined with sodium valproate in epileptic children have good clinical effect，can effectively improve the metabolism related indicators，no obvious adverse reactions，it is worth clinical promotion.
