Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of individualized audio-visual intervention on anxiety and vital signs of patients in the waiting area. Methods Clinical data of 200 patients who were in the waiting area of our hospital pre-operatively between February 2015 and February 2016 were analyzed and divided into control group(100 cases)and observation group (100 cases)based on whether the individualized audiovisual distraction intervention was implemented.Patients in control group who were in the preoperative waiting area were maintained in a comfortable position waiting on the lathe and no audiovisual materials were given after routine psychological counseling done by nurses;individualized audiovisual materials were given to observation group on the basis of control group. The difference of two groups in the degree of anxiety and vital signs in the preoperative waiting area were compared and analyzed statistically. Results After implementation of individualized audiovisual distraction intervention, the degree of anxiety in observation group was lower than that of control group, with statistical significance difference(P<0.05).The post-intervention heart rate and blood pressure in observation group were lower than those before intervention, with statistically significant difference(P<0.05). Conclusion Implementation of individualized audiovisual distraction intervention for patients in the preoperative waiting area shows great advantages in reduction of patients stress and anxiety,as well as stabilization of blood pressure and heart rate, which is conducive to the smooth progress of anesthesia and surgery and deserves wider clinical application.
