Abstract：Objectiv e To explore the relationship between plasma cortisol and insulin resistance in patientswith type 2 diabetesmellitus （T2DM）. Methods 57 newly diagnosed T2DM patients in our hospital from March to December in 2015 were selected as the observation group，61 physical examination personswere selected as the control group at the same period.The biochemical index of fasting blood-glucose （FBG），total cholesterol（TC），fasting insulin（FINs），plasma cortisol，insulin resistance index（HOMA-IR）and insulin secretion index（HBCI）wasmensurated，respectively.The correlation between plasma cortisol and insulin resistance were analyzed by Pearson statisticalmethod.Results There was no significant difference in the gender，age，body mass index，systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure between the two groups （P＞0.05）.The proportion of smoking and drinking in the observation group was higher than that in the control group，with significant difference（P＜0.05）.The level of FBG，TC，FINs，plasma cortisol，HOMA-IR in the observation group was higher than that in the control group，with significant difference （P＜0.05）.Therewas no significant difference in the level of HBCIbetween the two groups（P＞0.05）.Conclusion Plasma cortisol is closely related to insulin resistance in patientswith T2DM.
