Abstract:Objective To explore the efficacy of Bifid-triple viable Capsules (Bifico) for severe acute pancreatitis (SPA) and its effects on tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) levels. Methods Eighty-two patients with SPA admitted to our hospital from December 2014 to February 2017 were included in the study, and were assigned by random number table, the control group including 40 patients were received conventional care, the observation group including 42 patients were received conventional care combined with Bifico introduced on the day of admission, both for 7 days. The two groups were compared for clinical efficacy. Results Treatment resulted in decreases in TNF-α and Amy and increases in SOD in both groups, which were more significant in the observation group (P<0.05);the time to first flatus, time to first defecation and time to relief of abdominal pain were shorter in the observation group (P<0.05);the overall response was higher in the observation group (92.86%) than that in the control group (72.50%) (P<0.05).Conclusion Bifico provides significant efficacy for the treatment of SPA,as it resulted in better improvement in the inflammatory reactions and better recovery of the gastrointestinal function, supporting its further application.
