Abstract:Objective To explore the expressions of Pyk2,Twist and E-cadherin in hepatocellular carcinoma and their clinical significance. Methods 80 hepatocellular carcinoma tissues in our hospital from February 2006 to February 2012 were selected as the research objects, and 50 cases of adjacent paracancerous tissues were matched (from the edge of cancer tissue to less than 3 cm).Immunohistochemistry of EnVision was used to detect the expression of Pyk2,Twist and E-cadherin in hepatocellular carcinomas and adjacent paracancerous tissues. The correlation between their expression and pathologic parameters were analyzed by statistics. Results The positive rate of Pyk2 in hepatocellular carcinomas was significantly higher than that in adjacent paracancerous tissues, with significant difference (71.3%vs.12.0%,P<0.05).Significant differences were also observed in the positive expression rate of Twist between the patients with hepatocellular carcinomas and paracancerous tissues(66.3% vs.6.0%,P<0.01).The positive rate of E-cadherin in hepatocellular carcinomas was significantly lower than that in adjacent paracancerous tissues(27.5%vs.90.0%, P<0.01).The positive expression of Pyk2,Twist,E-cadherin was significantly correlated with pathological grade, degreeof differentiation, vascular invasion and clinical TNM stage (P<0.05).The expression of Pyk2 was positively correlated with the expression of Twist in hepatocellular carcinoma (P<0.05),the expression of Pyk2 was negatively correlated with the expression of E-cadherin (P<0.05),and the expression of Twist was negatively correlated with the expression of E-cadherin(P<0.05).Conclusion Pyk2,Twist and E-cadherin protein expression might be associated with the development, invasion, and metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma.Pyk2 may play a role during invasion and metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma by up-regulating the expression of Twist.
