Abstract:Objective To explore epidemic characteristics of death cases of road traffic injury(RTI)in a hospital and to provide the evidence of RTI control and prevention.Methods 443 cases information with RTI were collected in a hospital from January 2008 to December 2015.The main indicators of observation included patient basic information(name, gender,age,occupation,cultural degree,etc.),damage diagnosis information,hospitalization information,death information, etc..The statistical analysis of death cause was carried out according to the international classification of diseases ICD-10.Results From 2008 to 2015,the inpatients of RTI in a hospital of Zhuhai were 10 974 cases,of which RTI death were 443 cases.The average fatality rate of RTI was 4.0%with no significant change in the annual fatality rate trend(P>0.05).The fatality rate of RTI of Males was 4.4%,which was higher than that of females(3.1%)(OR=1.449,P<0.01).RTI was the first cause in any of the injure causes of death,its constituent ratio as high as 63.5%with no significant change in the annual constituent ratio trend(P>0.05).Motorcycle was the first traffic injury reason,accounting for 55.0%.Male motorcycle injury death ratio(88.1%)was significantly higher than that of women(11.9%)(P<0.01).Group of motorcycle injury death in young adults(76.4%)was significantly higher than other age groups(P<0.01).Conclusion Road traffic injuries in male youths and motorcyclist are high-risk groups,which should take timely and effective prevention and control measuresaccording to the types and distribution characteristics of RTI to reduce the incidence of road traffic injury and case fatality rate.
