Abstract：Objective To explore the effect of micro-implants combined with metal self-ligating brackets in the treatment of severe crowding of anterior teeth.Methods A total of 103 patients with severely crowded anterior teeth who were admitted to the Affiliated Shunde Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University from January 2014 to December 2017 were selected as the research object, and they were divided into observation group (n=52) and control group (n=51) according to the random number table method.The patients of observation group were treated with the micro-implants and metal self-ligating brackets.The patients of control group were treated with the micro-implants and straight-wire brackets.The speed of alignment movements, the closing time of tooth extraction space, the treatment course, the success rate of orthodontic treatment and the retention rate of micro-implants were compared between the two groups.Results The speed of alignment movements in the observation group was faster than that of control group, the difference was statistically significant (P＜0.05).The closing time of extraction space and the treatment course in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group,the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).The success rate of orthodontic treatment and the retention rate of micro-implants in the observation group were higher than those of control group,the differences were statistically significant (P＜0.05).Conclusion The combined application of micro-implants and metal self-ligating brackets is effective in correcting severe crowding of anterior teeth, which can effectively shorten the orthodontic treatment course, improve the success rate of orthodontic treatment, and is worth promoting and applying.
