Abstract:ObjectiveTo explore the effect of low glycemic index medical food in nutritional therapy for type 2 diabetes mellitus.MethodsFrom July 2015 to July 2016,100 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus treated in our department of endocrinology were selected as the subjects. The patients were divided into the nutrition treatment group and the control group by simple random sampling, each group had 50 cases. The control group was ensured a reasonable total energy intake, reduced fat, increased dietary fiber intake, and provided adequate vitamins and minerals. The treatment group was controlled the standard diet, reduced the intake of meals and energy supply, and used the low GI medical food as substitute meal instead of the corresponding energy dinner on the basis of the control group. The glycolipid metabolism and anthropometric indexes of two groups were measured at different time before and after treatment, and then compared and analyzed.ResultsThe blood glucose, cholesterol and triglyceride level of the two groups decreased and weight control improved compared with before treatment(P<0.05).The blood glucose, cholesterol and triglyceride level in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05),the improvements in weight control were also better than that of the control group(P<0.05).ConclusionLow GI medical food is helpful to control blood sugar and nutritional status. It has higher application prospect and is worthy of practice and popularization.
