Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of oral bacteriostatic ointment on chronic periodontitis and its effect on gingival index and probing depth of periodontal pocket. Methods A total of 40 patients with chronic periodontitis from January 2019 to December 2020 in Department of Stomatology, Binhai Bay Central Hospital, Guangdong Province,Dongguan were selected as the research objects. They were divided into control group and observation group by random number table method, with 20 cases in each group. All patients received conventional supringival scaling and other mechanical treatments, on this basis, control group was treated with Iodine-Glycerin, observation group was treated with oral bacteriostatic ointment. The curative effect, periodontal examination index and adverse drug reaction were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of the observation group was 100.00% (20/20), which was higher than that of the control group 80.00% (16/20), and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Before treatment, there were no statistically significant differences in gingival index, plaque index and probing depth of periodontal pocket between the two groups (P>0.05). After treatment, the gingival index, plaque index and probing depth of periodontal pocket in observation group were lower than those in control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). There were no obvious adverse reactions in the two groups. Conclution Oral bacteriostatic ointment has an ideal effect on chronic periodontitis, and can promote the improvement of gingival index and other probing indicators. It is safe to use and worth promoting.
