Abstract:ObjectiveTo study the clinical effect of traditional Chinese medicine hot compress combined with artificial tears in the treatment of dry eye.MethodsFrom June to October in 2016,58 cases(116 eyes)with dry eye in our hospital were enrolled in the study, and all patients had binocular disease. The patients were randomly divided into the traditional Chinese and Western medicine group and the routine group,29 cases(58 eyes)in each group. The routine group was treated with artificial tears, and the traditional Chinese and Western medicine group was additionally treated with traditional Chinese medicine hot compress on the basis of the routine group. The clinical efficacy, the scores of symptoms, volume of secreted tear, tear breakup time and degree of corneal lesions were compared between the two groups.ResultsThe total effective rate of the traditional Chinese and Western medicine group was significantly higher than that of the routine group, with significant difference(P<0.05).The symptom score of the sense of dryness, fatigue, burning, foreign body sensation, and the total score after treatment in the traditional Chinese and Western medicine group was lower than that in the routine group, with significant difference(P<0.05).The amount of tear secretion after treatment in the traditional Chinese and Western medicine group was more than that in the routine group, and the tear film break-up time in the traditional Chinese and Western medicine group was longer than that in the routine group, the score of corneal lesion in the traditional Chinese and Western medicine group was lower than that in the routine group, with significant difference(P<0.05).ConclusionThe traditional Chinese medicine hot compress can be directly applied to the affected area, and improve local blood circulation. The combined used of artificial tears in the treatment of dry eye can promote the recovery of tear secretion and tear film stability, and relieve the clinical symptoms.
