Abstract：Objective To study the clinical effects ofmodified electric shock （MEC）therapy in treatment of patients with refractory schizophrenia.Methods 84 patients with refractory schizophrenia in our hospital from January 2014 to January 2016 were selected and divided into control group and treatment group by using random number table，and each group was 42 cases.Patients in the control group were simplely used olanzapine，and patients in the treatment group were added modified electric shock therapy on the basis of olanzapine.The treatment effects，time ofmental state return to normal，total duration of treatment for schizophrenia，adverse effects in treatment period and improve degree of PANSS score between two groupswere compared.Results Timemental state return to normal and total duration of treatment for schizophrenia in the treatment group were obviously shorter than those in the control group，and the difference was statistically significant（P＜0.05）.The treatment effects in the treatment group were obviously better than those in the control group，and the differenceswere statistically significant（P＜0.05）.During the treatment，adverse reaction in the treatment group were obvious less than those in the control group，and the difference of rate of adverse reaction was statistical significance（P＜0.05）.The improve degree of PANSS score before and after treatment had statistical significance（P＜0.05）in two group；after treatment，the improve degree of PANSS score in the treatment group was obvious higher than that in the control group，and the difference was statistically significant（P＜0.05）.Conclusion The clinical effects of usingmodified electric shock therapy in patientswith refractory schizophrenia are very obvious.
