Abstract:Objective To judge the epidemiological characteristics and population distribution of patients in recent years through 209 patients registered from Yanbian University Hospital with definite diagnosis of forest encephalitis from 2012 to 2018, and the epidemiology, prognosis and treatment of the patients were recorded. Methods A total of 209 patients with forest encephalitis from 2012 to 2018 registered and reported in Yanbian University Hospital were selected, and their age, gender, occupation, region, onset time, condition at admission, routine examination of brain crest fluid and prognosis of the patients were recorded. Excel software was used to make the data into charts for analysis and comparison. Results There were 209 cases of forest encephalitis, and the time distribution showed a decreasing trend from 2012 to 2018. The distribution of forest encephalitis was still dominated by the Changbai mountain and forest region. That was dominated by the Han nationality, followed by the Korean nationality. The male and female ratio showed that male was more than female, 1.77∶1. The age distribution was between over 40 and 60 years old. The majority of the patients was mild cases, but the death, uncured, and discharge were concentrated in the critically ill patients. The abnormality of cerebrospinal fluid was 77.1%, but there were still a considerable proportion of patients with normal cerebrospinal fluid at the initial stage, particularly, 3.6% was severe patients. Conclusion The incidence of forest encephalitis is decreasing year by year in Yanbian area. But there is still a lack of effective diagnosis and specific treatment.
