Abstract:Objective To compare and analyze the value of liquid culture and solid culture in detecting Ureaplasma urealyticum (Uu) and Mycoplasma hominis (Mh) in urogenital tract. Methods A total of 854 cases of Mycoplasma in genitourinary tract in our hospital from January to September 2018 were selected.Liquid culture method and solid culture method (gold standard) were used at the same time. The positive detection rate and sample contamination rate of the two methods were observed and compared. Results The positive rate of liquid culture was higher than that of solid culture (43.09% vs.38.41%,P<0.05).The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value of liquid culture for Uu were 100.00%,94.62%,89.97% and 100.00%,respectively.The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value of liquid culture for Mh were 100.00%,98.88%,84.75% and 100.00%,respectively.The contamination rate of liquid culture was higher than that of solid culture (8.43% vs.1.47%,P<0.05).Conclusion Liquid culture method has high sensitivity, but it has a certain false-positive rate and pollution rate,so it is suitable for primary screening.
