Abstract Objective To explore the application effect of washing red blood cells in the treatment of patients with repeated red blood cell transfusion. Methods A total of 77 patients who underwent repeated blood transfusions at Fengcheng People′s Hospital in Jiangxi Province from January 2019 to January 2020 were selected as the research objects and divided into the control group (39 cases) and the observation group (38 cases) using random number table method. The control group was treated with leukocyte-removed red blood cell infusion, and the observation group was treated with washed red blood cell suspension infusion. The blood indicators, treatment effect and adverse reactions of the two groups were compared. Results There were no significant differences in the levels of hemoglobin (Hb), red blood cells (RBC), white blood cells (WBC) and platelets (PLT) between the two groups before treatment (P>0.05).The levels of Hb and RBC in the observation group after treatment were higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).After treatment, there were no significant differences in WBC and PLT between the two groups (P>0.05).The total effective rate of the observation group (97.37%) was higher than that of the control group (79.49%), and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups during treatment (P>0.05).Conclusion Infusion of washed red blood cells in patients with repeated blood transfusions can effectively increase the levels of hemoglobin and red blood cells in the patients′ body, thereby improving the therapeutic effect, and the safety is good.
