Objective To investigate the effect of Huanglian Shangqing Capsule combined with Minocycline in the treatment of chronic periodontitis on the periodontal condition and inflammation.Methods A total of 88 patients with chronic periodontitis admitted to Dental Prophylactico-Therapetic Institution in Dadong District of Shengyang from April 2018 to April 2020 were selected.They were divided into two groups according to a random number table,with 44 cases in each group.In the control group,Minocycline was alone used,and in the observation group,Huanglian Shangqing Capsule was added.The periodontal indicators,inflammatory factor levels and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results After treatment,the gingival crevicular bleeding index (SBI),plaque index (PLI),gingival index (GI),and periodontal pocket depth (PD) of the observation group were lower than those of the control group,and the differences were statistically significant (P＜0.05).After treatment,the levels of interleukin (IL)-1β,IL-6,and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) of the observation group were lower than those in the control group,with statistical significance (P＜0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in total incidenced adverse reactions between the two groups (P＞0.05).Conclusion Huanglian Shangqing Capsule combined with Minocycline can enhance the treatment effect of chronic periodontitis,improve the periodontal index of patients,reduce oral inflammation damage,and promote the improvement of the condition,it is safe and reliable.
