Effect of orthodontic treatment in bracketless app liance and traditional fixed appliance and com parison of periodontal health |

Abstract ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of orthodontic treatment in bracketless appliance or traditional fixed appliance and comparison of periodontal health.MethodsFrom January 2016 to June 2017,40 patients accepted orthodontic treatment in Department of Dentistry of our hospital were selected as the subject,and divided into research group and control group by odd or even number of their enrollment sequency,20 cases in each group.In the control group,patients were treated with straight wire bow bracket every day.In the research group,following the design protocol for clinical correction,the transparent bracket-free appliance for dental jaw model was created via a three-dimensional rapid laser in each stage of orthodontic treatment.The orthodontic treatment effect,dental arch width,gingival index(GI),and plaque index (PLI)were compared between the two groups.ResultsAfter treatment,the U1-NA angle,L1-NB angle,and the length of anterior segment of the dental arch in the research group were all significantly higher than those in the control group,and L1-NB angle was lower than that in the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).In the research group,the scores of GI and PLI scores at the 16thweek were significantly lower than those in the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).ConclusionCompared with the traditional fixed appliance,the orthodontic treatment in bracketless appliance can better reduce the height of the posterior teeth,prevent the tilting of the front teeth in an excellent curative effect,and have more healthy mouth and gums.
