Effect of strengthening health education in nursing of children with asthma |

Abstract Objective To study the effect of strengthening health education in the nursing of children with asthma.Methods A total of 100 patients with asthma treated in Fuzhou Children′s Hospital Affiliated to Fujian Medical University from December 2018 to February 2020 were selected as the research objects. They were divided into the observation group (50 cases) and the control group (50 cases) by drawing lots at random. The observation group adopted the method of intensive health education and the control group adopted the method of routine health education. The forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1), forced vital capacity (FVC), peak expiratory flow (PEFR) index, compliance,number of asthma attacks and length of hospital stay were compared between the two groups. Results After nursing,FEV1 was (1.87±0.34) l, FVC was (2.24±0.45) l and PEFR was (3.46±1.02) l/s in the observation group, higher than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The medication total compliance of asthmatic children in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The number of asthma attacks was (2.52±1.01) and the length of hospital stay was (5.32±1.20)days in the observation group, were shorter than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion The application of intensive health education in the nursing of children with asthma has a significant effect, which can significantly improve their pulmonary function indexes, reduce the number of asthma attacks and shorten the hospital stay of children.
