Application of WeChat follow-up platform in safety management of inguinal hernia after ambulatory surgery |

Abstract Objective To explore the application effect ofWeChat follow-up platform in safetymanagement of inguinal hernia after ambulatory surgery.Methods A total of 150 patientswho underwent ambulatory tension-free inguinal hernia repair in Shunde Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine from January 2017 to June 2018 were selected as the research objects,and they were divided into WeChat group,primary group,tertiary group,community group and telephone group by the random number tablemethod,30 cases in each group.Patients in theWeChat group adopted theWeChat follow-up platform for 7 days,patients in the primary group were followed on the seventh day after surgery,patients in the tertiary group were followed on the first,third,and seventh days after surgery,patients in the community group were followed up for 7 days in community hospitals,and patients in the telephone group were followed up by telephone.The total incidence rate of postoperative complications,total satisfaction with complicationmanagement,total safety,economic expenditure for follow-up,time for follow-up and compliance of the five groups of patients were compared.Results The total incidence rate of complications of patients in WeChat group,primary group,tertiary group,community group and telephone group was 6.67%,10.00%,6.67%,6.67%,and 10.00%.There was no statistically significant difference in the total incidence rate of complications among the five groups(P>0.05).The total satisfaction with complication management in the WeChat group was 96.67%,the primary group was 60.00%,the tertiary group was 73.33%,the community group was 70.00%,and the telephone group was 80.00%.The total safety of patients in theWeChat group was 96.67%,the primary group was 66.67%,the tertiary group was 83.33%,the community group was 86.67%,and the telephone group was 86.67%.The total satisfaction with complicationmanagement and total safety of patients in the WeChat group were higher than those in the other four groups,and those in the tertiary group,community group and telephone group were higher than those in the primary group,with statistically significant differences(P<0.05).There were no statistically significant differences in the total satisfaction with complicationmanagement and total safety in the tertiary groups,the community group,and the telephone group (P>0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in economic expenditure for follow-up between WeChat group and telephone group(P>0.05).There was statistically significant difference in economic expenditure for follow-up in WeChat group and the other three groups(P<0.05).The time for follow-up of theWeChat group and the other four groupswas statistically significant(P<0.05).The compliance of the WeChat group and the other four groupswas statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion WeChat follow-up platform in safetymanagement of inguinal hernia after ambulatory surgery can improve satisfaction and safety of patientswithout increasing postoperative complications,reduce economic expenditure,shorten the time of visits,and improve compliance,which can be promoted as a preferred safetymanagement scheme.
