Abstract Most organisms have biological clocks, also known as biological rhythms, human beings are no exception, but external environmental stimuli can strengthen, weaken or even destroy this rhythm. Because of the particularity of nursing profession, nurses carry out shift system, and irregular shift will break the daily life and rest and lead to the reversal of day and night and the disorder of biological rhythm. Animal experiments and population epidemiological studies show that the disorder of biological rhythm is associated with the risk of breast cancer, but its mechanism has not been determined. Now it is more studied that the negative feedback circulatory disorder and circadian rhythm disorder caused by the autonomic regulation of many biological clock genes lead to abnormal hormone levels in the body. In this paper, the relationship among irregular shift, biological rhythm disorder and breast cancer was reviewed in order to provide basis for nursing managers to work on shifts, to prevent breast cancer risk for nurses and to improve their physical and mental health.
