A study on the correlation between self-efficacy of emotional regulation and anxiety in college students in Foshan |

Abstract ObjectiveTo analyze the correlation between self-efficacy and anxiety according to the investigation on the current situation of self-efficacy of emotional regulation in the college students in Foshan,so as to provide a theoretical basis for improving the mental health levels of college students.MethodsFrom December 2016 to May 2017,a total of 342 college students from 4 universities in Foshan,Guangdong were selected as the study subjects.The questionnaire of general data,the students′emotional regulation self-efficacy scale,and anxiety self-rating scale were applied and data were collected.The correlation between the two was analyzed.ResultsThe total score of self-efficacy of emotional regulation was(62.06±5.45)in 342 college students in Foshan.There were 47 people(13.74%)with anxiety.The differences in the scores of expressing positive emotion dimension(t=2.92,P=0.01),management of frustration/anger dimension(t=2.68,P=0.01)and total score of self-efficacy of emotional regulation were statistically significant in the students with different anxiety levels(t=3.84,P=0.00);the score of anxiety self-rating scale in college students was negative correlated with the scores of expressing positive emotion dimension (r=-0.26,P=0.00),management of frustration/pain dimension(r=-0.14,P=0.01),and total score of self-efficacy of emotional regulation(r=-0.26,P=0.00).ConclusionThe overall level of self-efficacy of emotional regulation in the college students in Foshan is moderate to superior,which can reduce the occurrence of anxiety by improving the self-efficacy of emotional regulation in college students.
