Effect of Methylprednisolone combined with conventional treatment on severe hand foot mouth disease in children and its influence on inflammatory factors |

Abstract ObjectiveTo investigate the curative effect of Methylprednisolone combined with conventional treatment on severe hand foot mouth disease (HFMD)in children and its influence on inflammatory factors such as tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin 1β(IL-1β).Methods90 children with severe hand foot mouth disease from July 2014 to February 2017 treated in our hospital were selected and were divided according to the random number table method, and there were 45 cases in each group.The control group was given the conventional treatment,while the observation group was combined with Methylprednisolone.7 days was a course of treatment.The improvement of inflammatory factors and clinical efficacy were compared between the two groups.ResultsThe oral ulcer healing time,fever disappearing time,appetite improvement time and rash extinction time of the observation group were shorter than those of the control group,and the difference was significant(P<0.05).After 7 days treatment,serum tumor necrosis factor(TNF-α),interleukin 1β (IL-1β)in two groups were decreased,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment, TNF-α and IL-1β in observation group was(142.49±25.46)ng/L and(52.92±8.26)ng/ml respectively,which was lower that of the control group[(173.65±27.89)ng/L,(69.85±17.31)ng/ml]respectively,and the difference was significant(P<0.05).The total effective rate in the observation group was 93.33%,which was higher than that of the control group (77.78%)(P<0.05).ConclusionMethylprednisolone combined with conventional treatment treating severe hand foot mouth disease in children with has a remarkable effect,which can shorten the course of disease,improve inflammatory response,and promote disease recovery,and it is worthy of promotion.
