Objective To explore the clinical effect of Cinnamon Powder treating diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Methods Clinical data of 94 patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy admitted to Huanggu District Central Hospital of Shenyang City from January 2017 to December 2019 were retrospectively analyzed, and they were divided into the conventional group and the study group according to different treatment methods, with 47 cases in each group. The conventional group was given conventional basic treatment, and the blood glucose was controlled by diet and insulin injection. The study group was treated with Cinnamon Powder. The Toronto clinical scoring system (TCSS) score, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome score (lumbago and knee weakness, limb pain, dry mouth, intermittent claudication, mental fatigue), sensory nerve conduction velocity (SNCV) and motor nerve conduction velocity (MNCV) of the common peroneal nerve before treatment and 28 days after treatment, therapeutic effect, and total incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results Before treatment, there were no significant differences in TCSS score, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome score, SNCV and MNCV between the two groups (P>0.05).After treatment, the TCSS scores and traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores of the two groups were lower than those before treatment, the SNCV and MNCV of the two groups after treatment were higher than those before treatment, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).The TCSS score and TCM syndrome score in the study group were lower than those in the conventional group, SNCV and MNCV were higher than those in the conventional group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).The total effective rate of treatment in the study group was higher than that in the conventional group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05).Conclusion Cinnamon Powder in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy could improve the symptoms of patients with lumbar and knee soreness, limb pain, dry mouth and polydipsia, repair the damaged nerves, improve the conventional treatment effect, with fewer adverse reactions, high safety, and ideal clinical application effect.
