Abstract:Objective To investigate the efficacy of nasal high-flow oxygen therapy on acute exacerbation of bronchial asthma and its effect on prognosis. Methods A total of 64 patients with acute bronchial asthma and respiratory failure who were admitted to Jingzhou Chest Hospital, Hubei Province from Janurary 2018 to August 2019 were selected as the research subjects. According to random number table method, they were divided into observation group (n=32) and control group (n=32). The observation group received nasal high-flow oxygen therapy and the control group received conventional oxygen therapy, the differences in lung function, efficacy, and prognostic indexes between the two groups after treatment were compared. Results The observation group patients′ forced expiratory volume in one second, forced vital capacity and peak expiratory flow after treatment were higher than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The total effective rate of the observation group (93.75%) was higher than that of the control group (81.25%), the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The number of acute attacks and the number of hospitalizations in the observation group were fewer than those in the control group, and the length of hospital stay was shorter than that of the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Assisted transnasal high-flow oxygen therapy can improve lung function indexes of patients with acute bronchial asthma complicated by respiratory failure, shorten hospital stay and improve treatment effect, which is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
