Abstract:Peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) has been widely used in clinic, and peripheral vascular protection plays a crucial role when tumor patients receive multiple courses of intravenous chemotherapy drugs, but there are still quite a number of clinical chemotherapy patients who prefer to use peripheral superficial vein indwelling or even scalp steel needle puncture instead of PICC catheterization.Through extensive literature, this paper reviews the restrictive factors and related countermeasures that may affect the use of PICC in chemotherapy patients from the perspective of patients, medical care and management. The aim is to enable medical staff and patients to fully understand the "superiority of a needle therapy" in PICC intravenous chemotherapy, in order to promote medical staff to correctly guide patients to choose a PICC catheter reasonably according to their own situation and willingness, and provide safe vascular access protection for the implementation of intravenous chemotherapy.
