Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effect of Estrogen combined with Metronidazole in the treatment of senile vaginitis. Methods Sixty patients with senile vaginitis treated in our hospital from January 2016 to May 2018 were enrolled as subjects. The patients were divided into experimental group (n=30) and control group (n=30) by a random number table method. Patients in the experimental group were treated with Estrogen combined with Metronidazole, and patients in the control group with Metronidazole alone. The clinical symptoms, sex hormone levels, clinical efficacy and recurrence rate were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the vaginal exfoliated cell maturation index (74.86±2.36), vaginal health score ([15.71±1.02]points) and estradiol level ([16.71±3.64]pg/ml) in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group ([61.51±2.22], [11.89±2.12]points, [13.26±4.25]pg/ml), the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The score of vaginal inflammation ([0.31±0.01]points) and folliclestimulating hormone level ([60.25±2.33]IU/L) in the experimental group after treatment were lower than those in the control group ([1.72±0.08]points, [69.84±2.45]IU/L), with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in recurrence rate between the two groups one month after treatment (P>0.05). The recurrence rates in the experimental group at 3 and 6 months after treatment (3.33%, 6.67%) were lower than those in the control group (20.00%, 33.33%), with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). Conclusion The clinical effect of Estrogen combined with Metronidazole in the treatment of senile vaginitis is remarkable, which can reduce the recurrence rate and improve the therapeutic effect. It is worth promoting.
