Abstract:ObjectiveTo explore the clinical application effect of assistant expansion arch and improved transverse palatalbar on maxillary arch expansion.MethodsFrom February 2015 to February 2017,48 cases of mild stenosis of maxillary arch needed to be treated by arch expansion in our hospital were selected and randomly divided into the assistant expansion arch group and the improved transverse palatalbar group,24 cases in each group. Two groups of patients were treated with assistant expansion arch and improved transverse palatalbar to expand maxillary arch. The width of dental arch before and after orthodontic treatment was compared between the two groups.ResultsThe first premolar of the arch width in the assistant expansion arch group after treatment was not significantly increased (P>0.05),the first molar and the second premolar arch width expanded significantly, the difference were statistically significant(P<0.05).The first premolar, the first molar and the second premolar the arch width in the improved transverse palatalbar group after treatment were significantly higher than that before treatment, and the difference were statistically significant(P<0.05).After orthodontic treatment, the width of arch in the first molar of the improved transverse palatalbar group was significantly larger than that of the assistant expansion arch group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference in the rest of the teeth (P>0.05).ConclusionAssistant expansion arch and improved transverse palatalbar expansion for maxillary mild to moderate stenosis patients have good expansion effect, which can choose suitable methods according to the different characteristics of the cases.
