Abstract:ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical effect of noninvasive ventilation (NIV)as an adjuvant therapy in the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)complicated with respiratory failure.MethodsFrom May 2015 to May 2017,96 patients with COPD complicated with respiratory failure in our hospital were enrolled and evenly divided into the observation group(n=48)and the control group(n=48)by the random number table method. In the control group, traditional ventilation via nasal catheter as an adjuvant therapy was used, while in the observation group,NIV was applied. The heart rate(HR),respiratory rate(RR),PaO2level,and clinical effect were compared before and after therapy.ResultsThere was no significant difference in HR,RR,or PaO2between the two groups before treatment(P>0.05).After treatment,in the observation group, the HR and RR were(23.91±1.49)times/min and(97.20±2.54)times/min,which were greatly lower than those in the control group(29.35±2.43)times/min and(116.32±2.61)times/min(P<0.05).The PaO2level in the observation group was (83.62±11.23)mmHg,higher than that in the control group(64.35±9.17)mmHg,the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).The therapeutic effectiveness rate in the observation group was 93.75%,superior to that in the control group accounting for 75.00%,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).ConclusionNIV as an adjuvant therapy in the treatment of COPD complicated with respiratory failure can effectively improve the patient′s condition, promote the recovery of respiratory function. The effect is remarkable, and is worthy of promotion.
