Abstract:Objective To explore application value of spectral domain optical coherence tomography(SD-OCT)and fundus fluorescein angiography(FFA)in diagnosis of postcataract cystoid macular edema(CME).M ethods Altogether 80(84 eyes)of patientswhowere treated with cataract surgeriesin our hospital from October 2014 to October 2015 were retrospectively studied. The fundus of patients at 1 week,4,12,24 weeks after cataract surgeries were observed, center macular thickness(CMT)of and lateral, bitamporal and nasal retina were detected by using SD-OCT;the incidence of CME at 12 weeks aftercataract surgerieswas recorded and detected by using FFA.Results Each preoperative and postoperative periods showed statistical difference(P<0.01)through variance analysis;CMT values at 1 week,4,12,24 weeks after cataract surgerieswere obvious increased compared with the preoperative ones, with statistical difference(P<0.01), themostobvious changesoccurred at12weeksafter cataractsurgeries.CME occurred respectively in 1 eye(1.19%),2 eyes (5.95%),6 eyes(7.14%),4 eyes(4.76%)at 1 week,4,12,24 weeks after cataract surgeries, among which themost obvious changes occurred at 12 weeks after cataract surgeries, among 6 eyes with CME occurring at 12 weeks after cataract surgeries,micro-cystic changeswere seen in 3 eyes, edema thickening between internal and external nucleus occurred in another 3 eyes. The retinal thickness in four quadrant before and after operation were analyzed by analysis of variance, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01);retinal thickness in 3 quadrantwith bitamporal, above, below at 1 week,4,12,24 weeks after cataract surgeries compared with the preoperative was significantly thickened, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);nasal retinal thickness at 24 weeks after cataract surgeries compared with the preoperative, and the differencewas statistically significant(P<0.05);at12 week after cataractsurgeries, change of retinal thicknesswas themost obvious.Therewas no significant difference between the incidence of CME detected by using SD-OCT and FAA at 12 weeks after cataract surgeries(P>0.05).Conclusion SD-OCT can be used to observe the increase of the early-stage retina thickness in cataractmacular areas and themacular edemamorphology in a quick and accurate way;while themeasurement of FFA can be used to observe the leakage phenomenon. The observation results of cataract patientswith postoperative edema obtained by using twomethods are not completely consistent, but coordination of SD-OCT and FFA can serve as an effectivemeans for the diagnosis and assessment of CME.
