Abstract:ObjectiveTo evaluate short-term effects of concurrent chemoradiotherapy and radiotherapy alone for esophageal cancer and its effect on immune function.MethodsEighty patients with esophageal cancer admitted in our hospital from April 2013 to March 2016 were randomly divided into control group and observation group,40 cases in each group.Patients in the control group received radiotherapy alone, while patients in the observation group were given concurrent chemoradiotherapy.Short-term efficacy, immune function index(NK,Ts,Th,Th/Ts and total T cells)before and after treatment in two groups were compared.ResultsEffective rate in the observation group was 90.0%,significantly higher than 65.0%in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the immune function between two groups before treatment(P>0.05).After treatment,Th,Th/Ts,and total T cells was significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference in NK and Ts between two groups(P>0.05).ConclusionConcurrent chemoradiotherapy is an effective treatment for esophageal cancer, which can improve the immune function of patients, but also has significant results.
