Abstract:Objective To study the method and effect of dorsal metacarpal artery skin flap in repairing finger soft tissue defects. Methods From March 2013 to March 2016,18 patients with finger soft tissue defects who were admitted to the hospital and given dorsal metacarpal artery skin flap repair were retrospectively analyzed. Results 18 cases of flap were completely survived and the wound was healed at stageⅠ;among them, distal epidermal necrosis were observed in 3 cases of flap, and was healed after dressing. The patients were followed up for 4 to 14 months, with an average of 10 months. The flap color, shape and texture were good.Temperature, touch, pain were still existed. No bloat was seen. Most of the sensory function were recovered, and the finger flexion and extension function was not affected.According to TAM method, the healthy side was evaluated accounting for 70%-85%.Two-point-discrimination reached up to 7~10 mm (average 8.5 mm)via nerve suture in the patients with the flap located at the palm side. There were 13 cases of donor site sutured directly and 5 cases of skin-graft repair, with stageⅠhealing for all.Scar hyperplasia was not obvious. The function of the injured finger was good. Conclusion The dorsal metacarpal artery skin flap is a convenient method for cutting and collecting, with reliable blood supply and undamaged main vessel, which is a favorable method for the repair of finger soft tissue defects.
