Analysis of application value of conventional high frequency ultrasound combined with ultrasonic elastography in the differential diagnosis of benign and malignant thyroid nodules

Abstract：ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical diagnosis value of conventional high frequency ultrasound combined with ultrasonic elastography in the differential diagnosis of benign and malignant thyroid nodules.MethodsAltogether 100 cases of thyroid nodules who were treated in our hospital from September 2015 to September 2016 were selected as the object of this research and examined by using conventional ultrasound and ultrasonic elastographyrespectively to determine the benignity and malignancy of nodules.The operative and pathological diagnosis results were taken as the control to calculate the accuracy,sensitivity and specificity of simple conventional ultrasound,simple ultrasonic elastography and combination of the two approaches in the diagnosis of malignant nodules respectively.ResultsAccording to the operative and pathological diagnosisresults,altogether 121 thyroid nodules were detected,including 94 cases (77.69%)of benign nodules and 27 cases(22.31%)of malignant nodules.The diagnosis results of simple high frequency ultrasound,simple ultrasonic elastography and combination of the two approaches were compared with operative and pathological diagnosis results,it was found that the sensitivity,specificity and accuracy of combination of the two approaches were higher than those of simple high frequency ultrasound and simple ultrasonic elastography in the diagnosis of malignant nodules,with statistically significant difference(P＜0.05).ConclusionCombination of application of conventional high frequency ultrasound and ultrasonic elastography in the diagnosis of thyroid nodules can accurately identify the benignity and malignancy of nodules with excellent diagnostic sensitivity,specificity and accuracy,which can provide reliable basis for treatment and is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
