Abstract:ObjectiveTo discuss the effect of pterygium excision combined with amniotic membrane transplantation treating complicated pterygium.Methods30 patients(42 eyes)with complicated pterygium from Puning People′s Hospital during February 2015 to November 2016 were randomly divided into the observation group(n=16 patients,22 eyes)and the control group(n=14 patients,20 eyes)according to the number random method. The control group was treated with pterygium excision, while the observation group was treated with pterygium excision combined with artificial amniotic membrane transplantation. The curative effect, wound healing time, disappearance time of discomfort symptom, the incidence of complications, recurrence rate were contrasted between the two groups.ResultsThe effective rate was 90.1%in the observation group, which was significantly higher than that of the control group(55.0%)(P<0.05).The wound healing time and disappearance time of discomfort symptom in the observation group were significantly shorter than those of the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of complications was 9.1%in the observation group, which was significantly lower than that of the control group(31.8%)(P<0.05).The recurrence rate was 4.5%in the observation group, which was significantly lower than that of the control group(27.3%)(P<0.05).ConclusionPterygium excision combined with artificial amniotic membrane has higher efficacy in the treatment of complicated pterygium, with rapid postoperative recovery, fast postoperative recovery, less complications, and low recurrence rate.
