Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of short course of Azithromycin on symptom remission and levels of inflammatory factors in children with mild mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (MMP). Methods A total of 120 children with mild MPP in the Department of Pediatrics, Gao′an Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital from January 2018 to December 2019 were selected as the research subjects. They were divided into control group and observation group by random number table method, with 60 cases in each group. The control group was treated with long-term Azithromycin(7 days), and the observation group was treated with short-term Azithromycin (5 days). The time of symptom regression, the level of serum inflammatory factors before and after treatment and the total incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results There was no significant difference in the disappearance time of cough and lung rales between the two groups (P>0.05). The levels of serum C-reactive protein (CRP) and white blood cell count(WBC) in two groups after treatment were lower than before, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).There was no statistical difference in the levels of serum CRP and WBC between two groups after treatment (P>0.05).The total incidence of adverse reactions in observation group (8.33%) was lower than that in control group (21.67%),the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion The efficacy of short course of Azithromycin in the treatment of children with mild MPP is similar to that of long course of azithromycin, which can reduce the level of inflammatory factors in children with short symptom resolution time, less adverse reactions, and high safety.
