Clinical effect of traditional Chinese massage combined with Huoxue Zhitong Decoction for the treatment of limb swelling at the late stage of bone injury

Abstract：Objective To explore the therapeutic effect of traditional Chinese massage combined with Huoxue Zhitong Decoction for the treatment of limb swelling at the later stage of bone injury.Methods Ninety patients with post-injury limb swelling who were admitted to the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology of Ningde Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from February 2019 to February 2020 were selected as the research subjects.They were divided into the control group and the observation group by the random number table method.In the control group,patients were treated with conventional Western medicine,and in the observation group,patients were treated with traditional Chinese massage combined with Huoxue Zhitong Decoction.The therapeutic effect of the two groups were compared.Visual analogue scale (VAS)and swelling degree of pain before and 2 weeks after treatment were compared between the two groups.The recovery of limb function before and after treatment was compared between the two groups.The detumescence time,hospital stay and callus growth time were compared between the two groups.Results The total effective rate of observation group was higher than that in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).VAS score and swelling degree in observation group at 2 weeks after treatment were lower than those in control group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Before treatment,there was no significant difference in limb function scores between the two groups(P>0.05).The limb function scores of observation group at 2 weeks after treatment and 3 months after treatment were higher than those of control group,with statistical significances (P<0.05).The detumescence time,hospitalization time and callus growth time in observation group were shorter than those in control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Traditional Chinese massage combined with Huoxue Zhitong Decoction is effective in treating limb swelling at the later stage of bone injury.It can effectively alleviate pain,relieve limb swelling,promote callus growth and limb function recovery,speed up swelling disappearance and fracture healing,and shorten hospital stay.
