Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of peer education program in patients with initial insulin therapy. Methods Eighty-five diabetic patients who received initial insulin treatment at the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University from April 2019 to December 2020 were selected as the research subjects, and they were divided into a control group(routine care,42 cases)using the random number table method.Compared with the observation group(peer education,43 cases),both groups were continuously intervened for 3 months to observe the treatment compliance of the two groups, and the blood glucose levels and self-management levels of the two groups before and after the intervention for 3 months were compared. Results After 3 months of intervention, the total treatment compliance of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).After 3 months of intervention, the treatment compliance of observation group was higher than control group, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Before intervention, there were no significant differences in fasting blood glucose and 2 h postprandial blood glucose between the two groups (P>0.05).After 3 months of intervention, the fasting blood glucose and 2 h postprandial blood glucose in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Before intervention, there was no significant difference in self-management level between the two groups (P>0.05).After 3 months of intervention, the self-management level of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The peer education program can improve treatment compliance and self-management level of patients with initial insulin therapy, and reduce blood glucose levels.
