Objective To understand the current medication adherence of the patients suffering from chronic diseases, analyze its relationship with medication convictions and provide a path to improve the medication adherence level of the patients suffering from chronic diseases. Methods A total of 220 patients suffering from hypertension, diabetes, coronary heart disease and other chronic diseases who were admitted to the Chronic Disease Clinic of a grade-A and first-class hospital in Wuhu from October 7 to 13,2019 were randomly selected. The medication adherence report scale(MARS-5)and beliefs about medical questionnaire(BMQ-G)were used to investigate the patients, and the data obtained from the survey were statistically analyzed. Results The patients suffering chronic diseases were poor in medication adherence, with the score of(14.25±3.15)points.Medication adherence was related to gender, age, and educational background(P<0.05),while it was not related to the type of diseases(P>0.05).There was a correlation between the three dimensions of medication convictions(excessive application, beneficial convictions and harmful convictions)and medication adherence(P<0.01).Beneficial convictions and excessive application could exert a significant prediction effect on medication adherence(P<0.01).Conclusion Patients suffering from chronic diseases have a low medication adherence level, and there are obvious differences in gender, age and education;among the medication convictions of the patients suffering from chronic diseases, beneficial conviction predicts medication adherence positively, and excessive application negatively predicts medication adherence.
