Curative effect difference between prepared warm gutta-percha and cold gutta-percha in one-time instant root canal filling for chronic apical periodontitis

Abstract：ObjectiveTo compare the curative effect difference between prepared warm gutta-percha and cold guttapercha in one-time instant root canal filling for chronic apical periodontitis.MethodsFrom February 2015 to February 2016,64 chronic apical periodontitis patients in our department were randomly divided into control group by the outpatient number(32 patients with 33 involved teeth)and experimental group(32 patients with 34 involved teeth).The experimental group and control group were treated by prepared warm gutta-percha and cold gutta-percha in one-time instant root canal filling.All patients were followed up for 1 week and 12 months.The root canal filling quality,pain level after 1 week and curative effect after 12 months were comparatively analyzed.ResultsThe correctly fill-in rate in experimental group and control group had no significant difference (Z=1.77，P＞0.05).The pain rate and VAS score in experimental group were 6.25%and (1.02±0.36)scores,which were significantly lower than control group of 28.13%and (2.23±0.85)scores(P＜0.05).The cure rate and total effective rate after 12 months in experimental group was 96.88%，which were significantly better than control group of(75.00%)(P＜0.05).ConclusionPrepared warm gutta-percha in onetime instant root canal filling for chronic apical periodontitis have a better root canal filling quality and also can obviously lower the pain level and significantly enhance the curing rate.
