Abstract Objective To understand the physical and mental health status of senior high students in Jiangmen city,and to provide suggestions for targeted health education.Methods A cluster random sampling method was used to select research objects in 11 schools in Jiangmen city from May to June 2018.One hundred senior high students from these 11 schools each were randomly selected to conduct a Cornell health questionnaire survey,totaling 1100.The total scoring(A-R)and the psychiatric symptom(M-R)scoring were used for evaluation,and the correlation between somatic health status and mental health status was analyzed.Results There were 205 students diagnosed with physical and mental health disorders and 155 students with abnormal mental symptoms after investigation.The higher positive response rates were eye and ear,habit,inadaptation,depression,sensitivity,nervousness,anger,and so on.The A-R and M-R values of male students were both lower than those of female ones with statistical significance(P＜0.05).The A-R and M-R values of rural students were higher than those of urban students (P＜0.05).There was no significant difference in the A-R value or M-R value of the only-child students compared with the non-only child students(P＞0.05).The A-R and M-R values didn′t differ statistically in students whose parents were in different educational levels(P＞0.05).The somatic health status and the mental health status interacted with each other,and the two were positively related to the physical and mental health status (r=0.93,0.86,P＜0.05).Conclusion The positivity rate of screening for physical and mental disorders in senior high students was 19.07%.The incidence of physical and mental disorders in girls and rural students was high.
