Abstract ObjectiveTo explore the effect of family humanistic care on the social functioning of schizophrenia patients who return to communities.MethodsThe 90 schizophrenia patients were selected from who with Guangzhou city were discharged from my hospital in January to June 2016.They were randomly divided into experimental group and control group with 45 cases in each group.The patients in the experimental group were received humanistic care provided by their family members under rehabilitation nurses′guidance,while in the control group was taken care of by their family members without guidance.The scale for the assessment of negative symptoms(SANS)and the social disability screening schedule(SDSS)were used to assess the outcome of subjects with two groups,when was at baseline and the 6 month after the intervention.ResultsThere were no statistical difference in the two groups of the SANS and SDSS scores before the intervention,the differences were not statistically significant(P>0.05).After the intervention,the scores of both groups decreased,and there were statistical difference in the experimental group in addition to the marriage,the parents function factor score(P<0.05),while there were statistical difference in the control group only SANS scores,SDSS scores and social withdrawal factor(P<0.05).After the intervention,the scores in addition to the marriage and the parents function factor were lower decreased comparison between the experimental group and the control group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).ConclusionFamily humanistic care shows positive significance in social functioning rehabilitation of schizophrenia patients returning to communities.A positive and healthy home environment can improve the quality of their lives.
